Org pages open for claims
Organization pages now carry a Claim button. Show GitHub you belong and the page lists you among its admins, for everyone to see.
Top storyTook the lead from Sign-up panel mails you a rain check #1263. People can now claim organization pages by proving their GitHub membership, and the page lists them publicly as admins. Held off 1 challenger since.

You open @brefphp's page and there's a new button beside Share. It says Claim. Click it and GitHub asks for one extra permission, the one that reads your organizations. Come back and your handle sits in a row labeled Admins under the org's name, linking to your profile where anyone can find it.
Credit goes to mnapoli, who taught the page to ask GitHub one question. What is my membership here? GitHub must answer active, with you as an owner or a member. Invitations and billing managers don't count. The check matches the organization by GitHub's numeric ID, so a renamed handle someone else snapped up won't fool it. The extra token is spent on that single call and thrown away, and you get ten claims a minute before the door slows.
Claim an organization that restricts third-party apps and the page doesn't just shrug. An alert explains the owners approve apps first, with an Open GitHub button where an owner grants /dev/null access or a member requests it. Organizations on single sign-on get a link to sign in there first.
The catch is this. GitHub is only the front door. Leave the organization on GitHub tomorrow and nothing here notices, since the code never rechecks. You stay listed as an admin until someone builds the page that removes you. For now an admin is a name and a link, nothing more.
