The org joins the byline

Commits can now carry an organization's handle instead of a person's. Follow an org and its commits drop into your Following log with a square avatar and the org's own lane.

Scroll your Following log and a commit from an organization sits between two people you know. It has a square avatar, the org's handle, and its lane color running down the left. Click through and the page opens under the organization's handle, not the teammate who typed it. Quote it and the quote keeps the same byline.

Credit goes to mnapoli, who split a commit's author from the account that posted it. Each commit now points at a profile that can be a person or an organization, while the poster stays in a column that pages and the API never hand out. Follow an organization and its commits join your Following log. Trending gives them the same weight as a friend's. The link preview is still 1200 by 630, now with an 80-pixel square avatar and the org's lane color, /dev/null blue until its admins choose one.

There is one catch. No organization can post yet. The composer has no way to pick one, and every commit still goes out under the signed-in account, so this release only teaches pages, feeds, search and previews to show an org commit once one exists. That square avatar is a promise you cannot try at home.
