Twitch streams join the red-ring club

Your profile's Go live box now takes a Twitch channel as well as a YouTube video. Same red ring, same hover card, now pointed at twitch.tv.

Open the … menu on your own profile, choose Go live, and paste a channel link like https://twitch.tv/yourname. Pick a duration, and your avatar picks up the red ring and Live marker. Hover it and the card shows the channel's current preview with Watch now, which opens twitch.tv in a new tab. The same card says twitch.tv under your name instead of youtube.com. The stream plays on Twitch, never in the page.

Credit goes to tooinfinity, who taught the live system a second platform. The box accepts twitch.tv, www.twitch.tv, and m.twitch.tv links, stores the channel in lowercase, and keeps the 1-to-12-hour slider (two hours by default). The card asks Twitch's preview service for a 1280x720 frame of that channel. Only channel pages qualify. Clips, videos, and the directory bounce.

One catch. Nothing asks Twitch whether you are actually live. Set the slider to twelve hours, stop streaming after ten minutes, and the red ring and Live marker stay up until the timer runs out.
