Remotes typing goes cordless
The signed API now takes a nudge when you type in a Remotes chat or org, so the other side sees you at the keys. Five seconds after your last ping, you fade.

You tap into a Remotes thread in the phone app and type a line. Now the other side can see it. The web shows "@you is typing…" in a direct chat, and an org's header names you, or counts you in when several people are at it. Nothing is sent, and nothing is stored.
Credit goes to simonhamp, who taught the signed API to pass the composer's old habit along. Each nudge marks you as typing for five seconds. The web composer already sends at most one every three seconds while its box has text, and sending the message clears the mark at once. Call it 20 requests a minute, well inside the 120 a signed app gets.
One catch. A nudge to someone you have never messaged does nothing, because the server only marks a conversation that already exists. The first hello still has to be a message. The app gets the same empty 204 either way, so it cannot tell you the indicator went nowhere.
