Features

Your notifications learn to introduce people

Hover a face in your inbox and a profile card pops up. In expanded replies, the avatar and name go to the person while the text still goes to the commit.

Open your notifications and run the pointer over a face. After a beat, a card blooms out of the avatar with the name, handle, commit and follower counts, plus a follow button you can press without leaving the list. On a single reply, hovering the name brings up the same card.

Credit jubianchi, who gave the inbox the profile card you already get in the activity log. It waits 450 milliseconds before opening, 200 before fading, and spans 304 pixels, anchored to the avatar rather than your cursor. The avatar of a single notification now opens the profile as well. In an expanded group of replies, quotes or mentions, the avatar and name open the person while the timestamp and the text open the commit.

One catch. The card only arms for a mouse. The code asks the browser whether the pointer can hover, so on a phone nothing pops. Tap the avatar and you land on the profile anyway. You just never see the card first.
