Translations learn to wait their turn
A new switch in your profile settings leaves commits and replies in their original language until you ask for a translation. Flip it back and the cached English returns.

You click a commit from a Chinese-speaking developer and the words are still Chinese. No English drops in from nowhere. The post sits in its original script until you decide you want it, and the same goes for replies and for previews in your feed. The switch is called "Automatically show translations," and you'll find it in Settings → Profile, right under the language picker.
Credit goes to xHeaven, who gave every account one true/false slot to remember the answer. It starts empty, and empty counts as on, so nobody's feed changed the day this landed and no accounts needed backfilling. Flip the switch and the site saves the moment you click, flashes a small confirmation, and keeps the answer on your account, so it follows you to another browser, appears in your data export, and goes away when the account does.
One catch. The switch belongs to an account, not a browser. Sign out and the automatic translations come right back, and a logged-out guest has no way to keep originals first. You have to be signed in for the setting to mean anything.
