Funnel vision arrives in Operations
A new Metrics tab charts visitors, signups, activation, retention, and referral for any range of signup dates. It also starts remembering the last day each signed-in person was around.

You sign in as an admin, open Operations, click Metrics, and a funnel draws itself down the page. Choose all time, 7, 30, or 90 days, or your own dates. The funnel shows signed-out visitors, signups, activation, retention, and referral, each rate beside its change in points from the period before. The step that fell furthest gets highlighted.
Credit goes to mnapoli, who added the missing memory. That memory is the last day each signed-in person was around. The site writes that date at most once a day, ignores polling and prefetches, and keeps an anonymous daily headcount so the chart can look back. Activation means a newcomer got a reply, quote, or star, or saved or starred work by three different people, within 12 hours. Retention checks for a return on day 14, falling back to day 7 or day 1 until signups are old enough.
Below the funnel, the tab counts approved posts answered within 24 hours and the median wait, active people today and over 7 and 30 days, and how many people newcomers followed in their first day. Visitors and conversion come from two anonymous Fathom events.
One catch. Retention is a moving target. Until signups are two weeks old, the percentage is really day-7 or day-1 return, and the page tells you when day 14 becomes available.
