A gone page stops calling home
Pages whose commit disappears stop re-requesting themselves every 30 seconds, and dismissing a stale report no longer dims a live commit. The sheet also stops claiming the commit was deleted.

You open a commit and leave the tab sitting there. A moderator deletes it, and half a minute later a sheet covers the page. "This commit is no longer available." Escape won't take it away. Behind it the page keeps its last pixels, every button dead, and nothing keeps asking the server for the missing address every 30 seconds.
Credit xHeaven, who split one 404 handler in two and pulled the plug on the poll. The unread-count check ticks every 30 seconds and reloads the page's own address. Now it mounts only while the page is alive, and starts again on the next page you visit. On the moderation queue, Dismiss report and Reject commit now take separate 404 paths. If a dismissal 404s because the report left the queue, its commit was deleted or rejected, so you get a "This report is no longer in the queue." toast, the list reloads, the stale row disappears, and the commit stays undimmed. A rejection that 404s still marks the commit gone.
One catch. A 404 still can't tell a deleted commit from one a moderator rejected or an author hid from you, so the sheet hedges. The phrase "no longer available" covers all three. You won't learn which one happened from this page.
