Features

The sidebar learns to fold

A new toggle squeezes the left menu into a strip of icons, and each icon grows a name tag on hover. Your log takes the room it frees.

Hover the little house at the top left and the word Home slides out to meet you. You just folded the menu down to a strip of icons and nothing stopped working. Search, your log, and the commit button are all still there, and the column you read has spread into the space they left. Hover any icon and a label waits on its right.

Credit goes to eznix86, who taught the menu to fold. The rail is 80 pixels wide. When open, it takes 256. Fold it on a wide screen and your log grows from 620 to 796 pixels, while messages go from 940 to 1116. The width slides over 300 milliseconds, and the marker on the page you're reading glides to its new spot in 280. A small button at the bottom of the menu flips it, and a Navigation picker in Appearance offers Expanded or Collapsed, saved for next time.

One catch. That choice lives in a cookie in the browser you set it in, not in your account, so your desktop and your laptop will disagree until you set each one. And the collapse button, like the Appearance picker, only shows at 1024 pixels and wider. Beneath that, the menu stays icons and there is no switch to find.
