Dialogs learn to sit above the keyboard

On a phone, sign-in, write-a-commit and report now rise above the keys instead of hiding behind them. The chat also stops jumping when older messages load in.

Pull up the sign-in sheet on a phone and tap the name field. The keyboard slides in, and the dialog slides up with it, Commit and Cancel still in reach. Scroll back through a busy thread and the line you are reading stays put while older messages arrive above it.

Credit goes to the contributor who taught the page to measure the part of the screen the keyboard is not covering. Anything fixed to the screen, dialogs included, now sizes itself to that patch and recenters on it. If 120 pixels of room are lost, that counts as a keyboard, so a slight browser toolbar shuffle does not hide the nav. The message thread now scrolls from its bottom, which is why new pages above it move nothing on screen. Pull-to-reply got pickier too. The first move decides between scrolling and replying, a message follows your finger up to 72 pixels, and letting go past 56 replies. Your own messages pull left, everyone else's pull right.

One catch. On any touch screen the return key adds a newline instead of sending, so a tablet or a touch laptop with a real keyboard in front of it now needs the Push button too. Tap it and the keyboard stays open for the next message.
