Notification filters learn to mix and match
The inbox swaps its one-at-a-time tabs for six toggle chips, so replies and mentions can share a feed. Your picks stay pressed for a year in that browser.

You click Replies on the notifications page, then Mentions, and both chips stay lit. The feed now mixes the two, folding replies and mentions into the same grouped threads, with each group's count including both kinds. Come back tomorrow and the same two chips are still pressed.
Credit goes to brendt, who turned the old row of tabs into six toggle buttons and taught the inbox to take a list. Your picks travel as a comma-separated list of any of the six categories, and the query gathers groups matching any of the chosen kinds. Pick all six and it behaves like the old unfiltered view. Switch every chip off and the page accepts the empty selection, showing an all-off message instead of an error. The choice lands in a cookie tied to your account and lasts 365 days.
One catch. There is no All chip in the row, and the Show all notifications button only appears when the feed comes up empty. With one category on and notifications showing, you switch the other five back on by hand.
