Remotes learns to answer back

Hover a message in Remotes and a reply arrow appears, quoting the line you're answering above the box. Pictures, link cards, mentions and code arrive with it, and your draft stays where you left it.

Hover a message in Remotes and a small arrow appears beside the bubble. Tap it, or swipe a message right on a touchscreen, and a two-line ghost settles above the composer. The ghost shows the author's name in their lane color, then the first line of what they wrote. Type your answer and press Enter. The ghost rides behind your reply, and clicking it scrolls back to the original and flashes it for 1.2 seconds.

Credit goes to xHeaven, who moved the commit composer's toolbox into chat. Messages now render through the same text pipeline as commits, so links, @user/hash commit references, mentions with hover cards, inline code and highlighted code blocks all show up, recolored to stay legible on the blue bubble. You can attach up to three images by picking, pasting or dropping them, give each one alt text, and choose which of the message's links gets a card. Bodies hold 2,000 characters, and the text plus images of a draft are saved per conversation, surviving reloads. A draft with a detected secret is not saved.

There is one catch. The ghost only jumps when the original is already loaded in the thread. Scroll far enough back and the click lands on nothing, because Remotes will not page in older messages for you. Your draft comes back either way, but the message it answers may be out of reach.
